Grizzly Bear Contracting is a small family business that specializes in quality renovations, installations, outdoor structures and structural repairs in Guelph and the surrounding area. We strive to provide fair, reliable services of the highest standard. Owned and operated solely by husband and wife duo, Alex and Dannah Button, we believe that our small business model ensures clear communication with our clients so that their projects are understood and their visions fully realized.

Our Services

As a general contractor, we can provide full services: obtaining required paperwork and permits, providing advice and design solutions, and securing the material and trusted professionals when required.

Owner, general contractor, and red seal carpenter Alex Button is involved in every step of our projects, from quoting and client communication, to building, installing, and contracting to guarantee a seamless process. With over 10 years of experience, he ensures every aspect is accounted for so clients can feel confident throughout and are fully satisfied with results.

  • Yes! While we are happy to work in new and older homes, we have the experience and keen eye required for working in older century homes. Older homes settle and warp over time and tend to have lots of surprises, creating challenges we enjoy tackling at Grizzly Bear Contracting.

  • No. We provide general contracting in residential settings.

  • Honesty and integrity, along with top notch attention to detail, is what we’re known for at Grizzly Bear Contracting. We’re an excellent choice for those looking to work with one person throughout their project to ensure superior communication and exceptional end results.

  • Alex Button works with our clients from the moment they reach out to the very end of project completion. Once contacted, we book a free consultation and site analysis at their residence where they provide us with information about their project and we answer any other questions they may have. Afterwards, we send along a free detailed quote so they can understand the full scope and cost breakdown of their project, empowering them to add or subtract aspects of the project based on their budget and time constraints. 

    If they choose to move forward, we then agree upon a general time to commence the project. As the time approaches, we will be in contact to arrange details (such as permits, material choices etc.), and a specific start date and work window will be arranged, collecting a deposit when work begins. 

    Alex completes all the carpentry and tiling work, contracting out plumbing, electrical and HVAC components to his trusted subcontractors, and occasionally hiring well-known painters, drywallers etc. for larger projects to increase efficiency and affordability. 

    Once a project is complete, we review the project and ensure our clients are satisfied before collecting final payment.
